The Blue Tones of Modern Fiestaware Egg Plates

Fiestaware was famously reintroduced in 1986 and has continued strong ever since.  At some point in the early 2000s, the manufacturer, Homer Laughlin China Company introduced, much to my delight, an egg plate, or egg tray as the manufacturer sometimes refers to it.  It can be difficult to find on the Fiesta Factory Store website since it is grouped under the heading of “Countertop Accessories” along with soap dishes and cookie jars.  The piece has been produced in all of the colors available from the time of the introduction of the shape and I have managed, with the help of my son who is a 30 year fan of Fiestaware, to acquire all of the colors of egg plate thus far available.  Previous posts have discussed the changes in size of the Fiesta egg plate as well as a brief but fairly comprehensive history of the colors of both original and new Fiestaware.  In this post I want to focus on a color grouping, the blue tones, of Fiesta egg plates in my collection.  Sometimes, when using more than one egg plate at a time, I like to use complimentary tones or tones that set a color theme.  In the coming posts I will highlight additional such groupings.

The photo above shows, from back to front, left to right, the following colors:

Periwinkle Blue (produced 1989 – 2006)

Turquoise (produced 1988- present)

Peacock (produced 2005-2014)

Lapis (produced 2013 to present)

Cobalt Blue (produced 1986 – present)

These are some of my favorite shades of Fiestaware and are perfect for setting mood of relaxation or they can be mixed with brighter complimentary shades.
