I received a Fiestaware Egg Plate in a new color—Claret. Claret is a beautiful deep wine color. For those who have a long familiarity with the Fiestaware line from Homer Laughlin, Claret slots in the color palate between Heather (in production from 2000-2010) and Plum (in production 2001-2015).
This new Claret egg plate was a gift from my son Matthew.
During a trip to the Replacements.com warehouse in North Carolina, a trip during which Matthew sold several thousand dollars worth of his Fiestaware collection, he found a candle in the shape of a deviled egg and it now sits on an egg plate in the display cabinet. This deviled egg candle has “fooled” a couple of people.
Another surprise gift came from my friend Joyce. She found a Christmas ornament in the shape of a an egg plate filled with deviled eggs.
I certainly made dozens of deviled eggs over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Deviled eggs are always a request when a holiday dinner is in the planning stage. But I am always happy when the plate empties quickly and I know the eggs were enjoyed.
