This is the most unusual, and I suspect, the rarest egg plate in my collection.
This egg plate is in the Candlewick pattern. This pattern was made by Imperial Glass of Ohio in the 1930’s and 1940’s.
It is clear crystal with 12 egg depressions. There is a heart-shaped handle in the center.
I received this as a 1995 Easter gift from my husband, Steve. He found it in an antique store in California.
I have not been successful in finding this pattern in reference books that focus on Candlewick. One dealer informed me that the pattern did not produce an egg plate, but I have one!
I also have this eggplants…. I found it in Gene Florence’s book, Elegant Glassware of the Depression Era. Revised Fourth Edition, 1991. Pictured on page 32, at that time it booked for $80. It is Candlewick!!!
Great to hear from another collector. The Candlewick egg plate is truly elegant.
